Description

Willowhaven is a beautifully crafted redwood home on a generous lot dotted with fruit trees. An expansive wraparound deck encapsulates seven glorious redwood trees and bends around even more. With a mixture of shade and bright light, it’s the perfect setting for a romantic getaway or to simply recharge your batteries. In fair weather, BBQ, dine outside, slumber in the hammock, or stargaze. When it rains, luxuriate in the hot tub or listen to the storm from the cozy interior. High ceilings and abundant windows make all type of weather lovely at Willowhaven. A redwood “cathedral” surrounds the hot tub and up-lights show off the beauty of our trees.

Inside, the master bedroom features a King-size bed with adjusting frame. Lift or lower the back or foot sections of the bed separately and settle in to watch TV or snuggle while the wood burning stove warms the room. Both full bathrooms are substantial – making this a great home to visit as a couple, with friends, or a small family. The fully stocked kitchen and many places to dine, inside and out, ensure you have room to prepare gourmet meals with local produce and wines.

You’re minutes from the coast, Armstrong Woods State Park, Northwood Golf Course, and the Russian River. Quaint shops, casual and fine dining, and world (and locally) famous wineries are within a short drive.

Know Before You Book:

Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at Willowhaven is 4 people not including kids under 3 years old. Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm until 7:00 am. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at all times.

Parking: There is parking for a maximum of 2 vehicles. RVs, trailers and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.

Bed Sizes: Master bedroom: King adjustable frame bed; Living room sleeper sofa: Queen bed.

Security Cameras: For the safety of guests and the home, there are exterior security cameras for the front entry area only.

Heat Source: Central Heating. Master suite (upstairs): wood burning stove. (Firewood and kindling not provided, but you may use any left by prior guests.) Downstairs: Gas stove.

Location: Willowhaven is in a cozy residential neighborhood. It is a mix of permanent residents and vacation rentals, families, working folks, and visitors. To honor this balance, we ask guests to park in the driveway and along the front fence and respect the quiet hours in addition to general family-friendly, residential neighborhood expectations. Thank you for helping to continue the tradition of a mutually beneficial relationship between vacation rentals and local community!

Stairs: There are 2 steps from the driveway to the deck and one story of stairs inside the house from the main level to the bedroom upstairs. The basement and backyard are accessible via 1 flight of exterior stairs front the deck.

Pet Friendly: Willowhaven welcomes up to 2 well-behaved dogs.

Fencing: The back yard is fenced, but we always recommend checking the fence line before letting your dog off-leash. The deck and parking area are not fenced.

Common Amenities not included: This home does not have air conditioning, but the redwood trees usually keep the house cool in the summer!

Bathtub: Take a soak in the bathtub! The jets are currently out of service, but the tub is still very relaxing.

Proximity to wineries: There are tasting rooms in downtown Guerneville (5.2 mi) and a wine bar in Duncan’s Mills (4.9 mi), and oodles more tasting rooms at vineyards within 10 to 15 miles. We recommend visiting Westside Road to start.

Nearest River Beach: The Monte Rio Public Beach has seasonal boat rentals and concessions (1 mi) and a neighborhood beach within walking distance.

Nearest Ocean Beach: The coastal beaches in Jenner are approx. 10 miles from Willowhaven.

Downtown Monte Rio (shops and small markets): Approx. 1 mi from the house.

Comfortable bed, hot showers, clean hot tub, and gas stove for preparing delicious meals were our favorite amenities and the space was comfortable for just the two of us and our 5 dogs. We would consider staying here again when the average temperatures are below 80 because the lack of air conditioning and screen doors made for an uncomfortable first nights sleep. However, we went and bought a fan to cook and sleep comfortably the remainder of our 5 day stay. This properly has so much potential and would greatly benefit from installing a mini split system, some hardscape/landscaping in the backyard, a gate to enclose the front entry, and some updating, but the style is typical for the area and it was clean and quiet during our stay with a generous yard for the dogs to play. If you love to travel, and adventure with your dogs, this place is a great option. -via Vrbo

The cabin was just as described. A small downstairs but the bedroom is large and spacious with a big kind sized bed. The downstairs opens to a beautiful deck with several areas to sit and soak up the sun, read, or spend time with friends. The deck overlooks a large backyard. River access is close and leads to a private beach. The hot tub is spectacular! It is steps off the living room and ringed by seven giant redwoods. So beautiful and peaceful. In the summer it’s hard not to have any air conditioning. The couch bed is very comfortable but it is hard to block out the light. If I could have turned the outside rope lights off that would have helped. Location is epic. Neighbors are awesome. Check online for bacteria levels monte Rio was fully of toxic bacteria and at the beach there wasn’t any signs. I was lucky to have friends in the area that told us to check on line otherwise we would have gotten sick. It is a magical place -via Airbnb

If you love trees, and want to hang around some amazing redwoods, this is the place. It was astonishing to see how the cabin was built around the trees to incorporate them right into the deck. As if hugging redwoods just steps outside the door wasn't enough, having a hammock and a hot tub beneath them made the place feel luxurious. Indoors, there were a few little things that could be updated. But it was still cozy and clean. This place, though, is about being outdoors, and plenty of great deck furniture made that easy.

My husband and I rented this cabin for a birthday getaway. The cabin was clean and quaint. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and cooking utensils. Very minimal for spices. We had to buy salt & pepper grinders that we ended up donating to the spice rack. We also had to buy charcoal to use the smaller grill as the large grill had a big chunky chain on the lid and base, which made it difficult to move away from the rail of the deck; however, the little market was super close so it wasn’t a big issue. The bed was comfortable and cozy. The windows in the loft were nice and large. The hot tub was enjoyable and the deck lights are perfectly placed. Overall we enjoyed our stay. -via Airbnb

Super cute cozy house! Felt right at home once we got there. Super quiet neighborhood and nice to walk around. Great little kitchen as well, lots of space for a couple and a little pup. Hot tub was also clutch! Love the trees circling you. NOTE: Neighbors are SUPER close and there is nothing that really blocks the view from the patio so you are basically in the hot tub with all neighbors being able to watch you from both sides. So it doesn't really feel as secluded as you'd want. Otherwise, super close drive to Guerneville!-via Airbnb

This house was perfect for my son and me. The location was perfect in almost every way- walking distance to a nice beach on the river and walking distance (for us) to everything else in Monte Rio. I walked our dog several miles every day through the neighborhood and out along the river and Dutch creek. This is a great house if you are traveling with a dog. The fenced yard is huge. The deck is not gated, but our dog is not a wanderer so that wasn’t an issue for us. The only drawbacks were looking out at the neighboring houses which are in need of some TLC and the neighbors across the street who had ongoing arguments. But the beautiful redwoods and house more than made up for those annoyances. We would definitely stay here again.- via Vrbo

Hello,I must say that this was one of the best rentals that I have started at. Your home is beautiful and quite cozy. I felt so relaxed here. The huge redwoods around the cabin is just stunning. The cabin was equipped with everything, nothing missing. I was so relaxed here. The best part was it was so quiet. The day of rain here was so tranquil. We never left the cabin due to being in a state of pure relaxation. We loved the cabin 100%. Would I stay here again? ABSOLUTELY! The hot tub was amazing tucked in between the 7 huge redwoods. Willohaven…….well done, loved it! Thank you so much!

We really enjoyed our stay at Willowhaven. It's close to a great river spot to swim in with our kids. We tried a spot in Guerneville, but it was only for camp guests, while this was for the community and great during the week with fewer locals or tourists. The hot tub is phenomenal. Really sells the place. Good for a family of 4 or a couple.-via Vrbo

I’m not sure if we were tired or if it was the quiet woods but we slept until 2pm our first day. Very comfortable bed. House has everything you need. It is not isolated, there are homes all around, but the trees provide a lot of privacy. GREAT trees.-via Vrbo

We wanted to get away from all the stresses of life and boy was this the perfect place to do it. The surrounding area is beautiful and tranquil. The inside of the house was well acquainted and provided us with all that we needed. We loved the sleep number bed and being able to sit up and watch a movie in it. The hot tub with the redwoods surrounding it made it so difficult to leave every night. It’s fairly close to wineries (about 30 minutes) but the lovely drive made it so it wasn’t an issue. There’s a Safeway nearby, which we went to to stock up on breakfast goods so that we could enjoy the deck in the morning. The home was so cozy to be in, many days we left late and only made it to a couple of wineries. But it was the perfect! We went to the river on one of the days. It’s only a 5 minute walk through the neighborhood. The river was GORGEOUS and we lingered out there for over 2 hours. Love, love, love this place. I’m already trying to figure out dates for me to go back :)-via Vrbo

The house was very clean and comfortable. The upstairs bedroom was very spacious. We had our 2 small dogs with us and they had a hard time negotiating the stairs, but that is no fault of the property. Having a large bathroom downstairs as well as upstairs was very helpful. The large outside deck was covered with many sets of tables and chairs so it was hard to maneuver around them and they all needed a good cleaning after the winter. It was chilly in the morning and we were busy most of the day so we had no reason to use the outside though my husband did use the hot tub one night and enjoyed it.-via Vrbo

Great little get away this weekend. Area was a little sketchy and barren but the house was a beautiful oasis. Hoping to make a return-via Airbnb

Loved the home it was beautiful and immaculate. Great location super close to the Russian River, Guerneville and Bodega Bay. Perfect for a romantic weekend away and my boyfriend proposed so it will always have a special place in my heart. The only negative was how close the home was to other homes. We thought from the picture that it was a little more secluded but it didn’t stop us from having a great weekend. Tons of redwoods around the home. Loved the deck and the spa. We definitely will be back.-via Airbnb

This property is absolutely beautiful. The deck is huge under the big redwoods and has so many sitting areas. The downstairs area is quaint and cozy. The upstairs bedroom is very large and beautiful with high ceilings. We loved the way the house was decorated. Thank you for opening up your home-via VRBO

Beautiful Property, Perfect for Romantic Getaway

The property was amazing and perfect for my husband, myself, and our furbaby. Only a few small problems: dishes were not well washed (may have been their dishwasher) and the jets for the hot-tub and inside bath were not working. Other than that is was amazing. Would definitely come again!-via VRBO
