Description

Rocktop Lodge is a beautifully unique and authentic river getaway, with an enchanting mix of historic finishes. The outdoor spaces are loaded with amenities – pool, redwood hot tub, game area, BBQ, tiki hut, gas firepit, outdoor dining, river access and privacy, while the stunning interiors have been updated just the right amount to keep the whole group comfortable, yet still retaining the spirit of the speakeasy-style heyday of the Russian River. Built in 1930, on the Russian River and along the original train route, this amazing lodge has a long history of hosting visitors coming to explore the redwood forests and swim and boat along the Russian River, and, in more recent years, visit the numerous world-class wineries just down the road. Grab your friends and family and enjoy some Rocktop Lodge R&R.

INDOORS:
The interior of Rocktop Lodge is located on three levels. The top level is the entry level and the main living areas, kitchen, dining, plus two bedrooms and two full bathrooms.

The living room is expansive, and furnished for gathering together, with a bar, poker table, large sectional and a 60 inch TV. Gather with friends here, or retreat to the adjacent parlor and curl up on a sofa with a book or to watch the 54in TV.

The well-equipped kitchen features a professional-grade double refrigerator, two ovens, and a gas range. Use the milkshake maker to create summer treats for your group. There is ample space for 8 people around hardwood table in the formal dining room. Vintage wood paneling and custom built-in cabinets are reminiscent of a premium mountain lodge.

The first bedroom on the main level is outfitted with a king bed and a 42in TV. The second bedroom offers a queen bed, 42in TV, scenic river views, and an en suite bathroom. The other upstairs bathroom is in the hall between the two bedrooms.

The middle level (downstairs from the main level) contains the exceptional master suite. Enjoy the utmost comfort with a king bed, a daybed with a trundle, and beautiful views of the river. The en suite bathroom includes heated floors, dual vanities, a walk-in shower, and private access to the pool.

The lowest level has an additional half bathroom and a laundry room.

Located off the pool and separate from the home, the private fourth bedroom has a queen bed and half bath.

OUTDOORS:

Rocktop Lodge is located on the Russian River, with a private dock. Bring your own paddleboard or kayak for added fun.
There is so much to entertain – grill outdoors and dine under the pergola. Serve up happy hour at the tiki hut. Take a swim in the private pool, or soak in the redwood hot tub. Enjoy cornhole, ping-pong, or horseshoes, or just sit around the gas firepit and catch up with loved ones. Magical.

Know Before You Book:

Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at Rocktop Lodge is 8 people not including kids under 3 years old. Quiet hours are from 9:00 pm until 7:00 am. No outdoor amplified sound that can be heard from anywhere outside the grounds at any time. No parties or events.

Parking: There is parking for a maximum of 4 vehicles. Vehicles may not pull through the fence closest to the house, but guests are provided access to the person-sized gate. RVs, trailers and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.

Road Noise: Rocktop Lodge is located directly next to and above the Hacienda Bridge and River Rd. River Rd. is the main road along the Russian River, so be prepared for road noise, Traffic dies down at night.

Pet Policy: No Pets (homeowner is highly allergic)

Bed Sizes/Bathrooms: Primary Bedroom (middle level): King bed, Twin Day Bed with Twin Trundle, en suite bath with walk-in shower. Second Bedroom: King Bed (top level), next to hallway bathroom with shower. Third Bedroom: Queen Bed (top level), en suite bath with shower. Detached Bedroom, pool house next to pool: Queen Bed, en suite half bath. Additional half bath located on the third (lowest) level.

Heat Source: Fireplaces are non-operational. The house has central gas heat, plus a gas wall heater in the second floor with the primary bedroom. The pool house has an electric space heater.

Cooling: Ceiling fans in upstairs bedroom as well in primary bedroom on second level. No Air Conditioning.

Pool Heat: the pool is heated Memorial Day through Labor Day.

EV Charger: Located in driveway.

Security: There is a camera at the front gate, facing the driveway.

Stairs: The main living space and two bedrooms/bathrooms are on the top (ground) level. The house has three levels, and is situated on a riverbank so steps and areas outdoors may be uneven. There are several flights of steep stairs to from the house to the river dock, which may not be suitable for everyone.

Proximity to wineries: Excellent wine country location! Located at the Forestville side of Westside Rd, a main winery tour route.

Great house with lots of amenities and areas to spread out both inside and out. We were there during a the 4th of july/a 100 degree heat wave and we were in the pool all day. The river is great but it's so nice having a kitchen with all of your snacks right there so we used the pool more than we thought and floated the river less than we thought we would. The house could use a good clearing of cobwebs on the outside and can be a tough place if you're a light sleeper since River Rd and the bridge are RIGHT THERE. Would definitely come again.-via Vrbo

A truly unique property. I’ve never stayed anywhere where the whole stay keeps leading to fun, new discoveries about the property. Loved the history and amenities (pool, bbq, fully stocked poker table, Sonos system, pictures, books, ice milkshake maker, on and on). Towels and bedding could use a refresh. Outside areas are pretty rustic. Without AC, it would be great to have fully screened & clean windows for more air flow. Celebrated graduations and Father’s Day - loved the proximity to wineries, the store, town, and river.-via Vrbo

Wonderful weekend with friends at this special house! Eight of us took advantage of all the fun: gorgeous pool, well-equipped kitchen, outdoor games, stately dining room, and plenty of comfy spots for naps and conversations. And the outdoor shower! Highly recommend—just not on the weekend we intend to return next year! :)

Rocktop Lodge was even better than I imagined. The space is so comfortable with carefully crafted decorations, I felt like a princess staying there. The property was close to downtown Guernville as well as wineries offering the perfect mix of fun and relaxation. Being in the hot tub as the sun went down may have been the highlight of this trip! Our host was super responsive with reservations and provided a lot of attention to detail in outlining amenities and recommendations for things to do nearby. Check-in and check-out was the easiest I’ve ever had. I will look forward to returning again for many years to come. I'm telling everyone I know they need to visit this place. wonderful weekend away

We stayed at the Rock Top lodge for a wonderful weekend away with our book club. Even with rain on one of the days, we had an amazing time and there was plenty to do! We had so much fun soaking in the hot tub, shaking up cocktails at the gorgeous indoor bar (with a great view of the river), listening to music in the poolside tiki hut, having a ping pong tournament, and a poker game. We had a fantastic brunch at the Madrona nearby. After a day of wine tasting, we took full advantage of the amazing kitchen and cooked a delicious meal while dancing to music on the Sonos speakers. The formal dining room made our dinner feel so extravagant. We ended the night cozying up and watching TV together. A couple of the guests commented that the beds were "like sleeping on a cloud" and there was plenty of room for all of us to be comfortable. Everywhere you look, there is a place to sit and relax, something for the active guests to do, and a special touch or unique photo opportunity. It's amazing! - via Airbnb

Jay is the most amazing host of what is an epic property with enormous space, oodles of personality, beautifully maintained, and every detail considered . Historic hunting lodge meets Palm Springs pool meets lush tiki lounge meets best of the Russian River with a huge private river access. We had a spectacular time at the Rocktop. Not only is the lodge tastefully decorated but the pool is over the top fun. We rented the house to celebrate my wife’s 50th birthday and I cannot imagine a better place to have hosted a get together.It really is A perfect spot if you’re looking to gather with a group of friends- the property is large with a number of pockets of sheer delight- we especially enjoyed the tiki hut- it’s insane!Oh and there’s more! There are many houses one can book upon the lazy banks of the Russian River. None of them are Rocktop, save for one: Rocktop.Rocktop is situated upon a rocky cliff above the river. A delightful little journey down some stairs to the private dock will put you at water's edge. Grab a paddleboard or a kayak and paddle on up the river, then drift back down. Unless you just want to walk outside and sit by the pool. Or in the hottub. Those have watery edges too. The kitchen is modern and well-equipped. Easy to cook in. Our group likes to cook. The fridge is humongous. Entertaining is a dream, with an indoor bar we stocked up, another one outdoors, and a massive dining room in the heart of the house. The place has it all, and it's always booked, because it's Rocktop. Wear your pink and mint and you'll fit right in.-via Google Reviews

The Rocktop Lodge was AMAZING! We stayed here to celebrate a birthday and no one wanted to leave! There was immediate and easy access to the river, though the pool was so great that we only went swimming in the river once. (But if you want to, all you do is head down a flight of stairs - easy!) The kitchen was really well equipped and we had no problem cooking for our large group. Lots of us could be in there at once. My bed was super comfortable and friends all reported that theirs were too! The lodge has lots of comfortable places to lounge, so everyone could do what they wanted (watch TV, swim, chat, read, nap, etc.) and be happy. I am trying to scheme up a way to return. Already talking to friends about going back to Rocktop ASAP. It's a palatial spread on the Russian River with fun touches throughout. Spacious main lodge, dining, drinking and lounging areas with plenty of room, a great kitchen: it has it all. And then you have the pool and patio which gets tons of sun. My girlfriend and I came to the RTL for a Sonoma countryside getaway.. we were blown away. First of all, the place is situated right on the Russian River-- literally-- you could take a paddle board out, hit the rope swing or drag a kayak out for a scenic turn down the iconic waterway. We were also only a few minutes from some of the best tastings in the area (Flowers, MacRostie, etc). Besides location the vibe at RTL was awesome-- while it was just us two, I could easily imagine bringing a big group of friends to hosting a big celebration here in the future. The pool, hot tub, tiki lounge, MULTIPLE outdoor bar set ups, huge kitchen, speakeasy-like parlor room and poker room...the list goes on. Its really hard to describe without seeing it for yourself.All in for the Rocktop Lodge. Couldn't recommend more and will definitely be back-- it was a blast!-via Google Reviews

Rocktop Lodge is the perfect getaway along the Russian River. Between the pool, hot tub, tiki hut, and outdoor bar there’s so much to see and do.The inside of the house is beautiful. Especially the parlor with chandelier lamps and the living room with large windows that face the river.We enjoyed our stay very much and were very comfortable the whole time. Second appearance at the Rocktop. The family pancake breakfast by the pool was delightful. This was followed up by some time on the Russian River with kayaks, paddle boards and floaties. Loved the addition of the outdoor shower, for a quick rinse, before heading out to some close wineries on Westside road. A dinner in Healdsburg and a nightcap in the Rocktop tiki hut concluded the perfect day. Can’t wait to go back!-via Google reviews

This is hands down the best property I’ve ever stayed at! I would even go as far as calling the ROCKTOP Lodge a utopia! A group of us stayed here for my birthday in February, but it still felt like summer. With unique, special nuances in every corner - this place does not disappoint. Everything from the tiki hut, to the wooden hot tub, to the cozy den overlooking the best view of the Russian River makes this place something special. This place is an absolute gem! An escape that has something to offer year round. A silhouette of gorgeous lush green trees reflecting on the early morning river's calm. Nearby trails to take in the depth of beauty that only California Redwoods can offer. A swimming pool, an intimate hot tub, and direct (private) access to the Russian River. The host has clearly spent a lot of time thinking through ways to make this lodge the best experience imaginable, and that is exactly what it was! Great indoor entertainment as well, including televisions (in every room), a bar, a poker table, and lots of games. The house is charming, very spacious, and has a lot of fun history to learn about. What I love most about this spot is it's versatility. A weekend with the girls, a family vacation spot, or a place to switch up your work from home experience. This is a one of a kind stay with private water front access to the Russian River. Once part of the world famous Hess manner estates, the remodeled lodge has hotel quality amenities across all 4 rooms. Family spent a few days at the Rocktop Lodge and it was an unforgettable visit. It’s an oasis on the Russian River and a short drive from Bay Area. The house is one of a kind and the property is as unique as you will find. Swimming pool, private river dock, tiki hut, hot tub, it has it all. We drove 25 min to Jenner, which is here the Russian River empties into the Pacific Ocean. Easy day trip. This was our first visit, but definitely not our last.-via Google Reviews

The Rocktop Lodge is a truly unique destination....not many places along the beautiful Russian River where you have a private heated pool, hot tub, and concrete dock to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Couple that with the rustic charm of the lodge itself, fine hotel quality beds/linens, en suite bathrooms for each bedroom, chef's kitchen, premium sound (like 15 speakers all linked via Sonos) and HD television and you have found the ideal getaway. We had such an awesome time getting away during these times so much so that we almost want to keep it a secret...did I forget to mention the Fire Pit full blown Tiki hut, outdoor double gas grill, poolside full size jenga and connect four, darts, and Hook and ring (tiki toss) game. We took the kids and our extended family and it was truly an epic trip.... Now I truly understand what #feelingrocktop is all about!-via Google Reviews

I've stayed at the this property several times and each time I'm amazed by the amenities and the natural beauty of the surroundings. The combination of heated pool/hot tub and private river access are incredible. The great room, long dinner table and bar/parlor overlooking the river are my other favorite features and make it ideal for larger groups. My kids love all of the games on site like cornhole and oversized Jenga. It's become an annual tradition. I look forward to staying there many more times in the future.-via Google Reviews

Stayed at the Rocktop Lodge with a large group. Awesome access to both the Russian River for fishing, floating, & water fun, and nearly 20 Westside Road / Healdsburg area wineries. Loved the grand dining hall, bar & entertainment room with a view, hot-tub pool, grill & cabana - this place is decked out. Very thoughtful accommodations, it had everything we needed stocked. I've stayed at the Rocktop Lodge four times now and will definitely be back. I grew up going to the Russian River and this lodge has it all. A great part of the river - deep water, premium floating from Steelhead Beach right to the lodge dock. Not sure there is any other place that can offer the space and amenities. Great place for kids that can swim (pool and hot tub), big kitchen, epic dining room, and unique old CA lodge feel but with modern functionality. It's right on the Hacienda bridge which makes for great views and access to wineries, but there is road noise. Still, it is very private and there is no place like it on the Russian river. Wow, the Rocktop Lodge is an incredible find and completely as advertised. We took full advantage of the chef’s kitchen, massive dining room, bar, poker table and of course, the river and private dock!I can’t wait to return with friends and family for a wine tasting weekend and another float down the Russian River to the riverside entrance of Rocktop. I left LAX at 730 am Friday and was in the Rocktop jacuzzi at 930 am. Daily direct flights make this trip a breeze for any Southern California folks looking for a magical weekend getaway in wine country.-via Google Reviews

Our group of friends recently enjoyed an extended weekend in wine country, and Rocktop Lodge was the perfect setup. We loved exploring the details in this historic building—the redwood interior is really stunning. It was outfitted with all the amenities we could have asked for. The outdoor grill setup was perfect, the kitchen well stocked, and the sleeping quarters were private and comfortable.We could hear cars traveling across the bridge in the early morning, but it was nothing that the earplugs thoughtfully provided on the bedside table couldn’t handle.We're already planning our next Rocktop adventure!-via Google Reviews

I would highly recommend the Rocktop for anyone traveling to the Russian River. I traveled here with a group of girlfriends this summer, and it was the perfect getaway from chilly San Francisco. The house is situated on a hill with a large private dock directly on the river which was fantastic for our float day. Once you have had your fill of river time, the best bonus is the large pool and hot tub where you can relax in a quieter environment. After a long day in the sun, our group enjoyed making dinner and hanging out by the fire pit. Overall, would highly recommend the Rocktop! Loved the direct access to the Russian River. Tanned poolside all weekend, had evening cocktails on the dock, and dinner for ten at the grand living room table. Great escape from the city for a long weekend. Will be returning- via Google Reviews
