Description

Over the river and through the woods, to Irish Mist we go! Feeling nostalgic? Irish Mist is a classic Russian River vacation rental with original knotty pine interior, antique furnishings, a large sunny deck overlooking the river, and a private year-round river dock. This multi-level home features a downstairs living room with wood floors, high, open beam ceiling, and gas fireplace. A separate dining area offers river views and French doors leading to a homey kitchen. Sliding glass doors lead to a large river-facing deck.

Upstairs, there are 2 bedrooms and a full bathroom (bathtub/shower combination). Plus, a family room with large windows and a sofa bed for additional sleeping space faces the river. The downstairs living area includes a bedroom, full bath, kitchen, a separate dining room and a sunny deck. From the back deck, stairs lead to a private river dock - a great spot for sunbathing or swimming during summer months. Irish Mist is located one mile west of downtown Guerneville and is walking distance to two restaurants and a dog friendly public beach. Russian River Valley wineries and the Sonoma Coast (Bodega Bay and Jenner) are a short drive away!

Know Before You Book:

Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at Irish Mist is 8. Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm until 7:00 am. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at all times.

Parking: There is space in the driveway for 3 vehicles (the garage is used for storage and is not available for guest use). RVs, trailers, and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.

Bed Sizes: Master bedroom: Queen bed; Second bedroom: Queen bed; Third bedroom: 2 Twin beds; Living room: Queen sofa bed.

Heat Source: Gas fireplace, central heat.

A/C: The house does not have air conditioning. Being near the coast, the nighttime temps drop and just opening some windows is usually enough to cool the house.

Docks and Boats: Docks and beaches are seasonal only and available from mid-June to mid-September providing the summer dams are in. Irish Mist does not provide canoes or kayaks. The river is usually too swift for boating in the winter and many docks and beaches are under water until late spring.

We had such a great stay at the Irish Mist. You cannot beat the location, right on the river with your own private dock. Close to downtown Guerneville as well. We also spent a lot of time on the large deck overlooking the river- great view and shady in evening. Comfy beds too. Would definitely stay again! -via Airbnb

The home was spacious. Beautiful location on the river. The beds and linens were clean. I get the rustic charm/decor of the house, it could use more maintenance and updates though. We had a leak in the bathroom and the management was very quick to respond. It’s pricey compared to other similar homes-via Airbnb

Only had 7 (including my wife and I) people for 4 days. 4 people for 4 days, and 3 people for 4 days. First time renting a house without any boats. Kids and guests missed boating. Winds cooled the house every afternoon, even when temps were in the 90's. Great neighbors next door. Papers say I have a lab. Yet 3 years old and still not going in the water, Hmmmm. Saw no blue algae this year. Saw an egret and a couple of blue heron. Great time to swim 6:30 - 7:30am. Peaceful and no sun for us skin cancer people.-via Vrbo

gorgeous view of the river

Pros: Tucked into the Redwoods with a gorgeous view of the river, Irish Mist is lovely getaway from the city. Easy mile or so walk directly into town! The backdeck was great to sit around and soak up the sun and sights! The walk down to the dock puts you right on the river. If it's chilly out, which is was during our stay, the gas fireplace is in the main room and makes for a cozy place to hang out! Cons: The only downside was upon arrival, the heat did not work. With temps in the 30s, the fireplace was a saving grace! The office was apologietic and helpful to try and get it fixed. They sent over space heaters for the night but unfortunately we were not able to use them because they blew a fuse. They sent someone the next day and we had heat within 24 hours. So while not ideal, the office did what they coud to correct the situation. Also, some of the provided linens and towels were stained. Overall, we have a lovely weekend relaxing, taking in the sights together! :)-via Airbnb

Sometimes if you have many heaters on at once it can trip the breakers, and we are super glad our handyperson was able to flip them for you. Thank you for reporting it immediately so we could help! Since your stay we have had no issues with the heating after it was repaired. We also checked on the linens and will replace any if need be. Great location close to Guerneville nestled right on the river. The private dock access was spectacular and enabled fun kayaking and paddle boarding right from the house. The deck and views are lovely, and the house has old-fashioned charm. Very functional and cozy. The property managers were very responsive as well. This was such a quaint property. Access to the dock via stairs and blow up toys were a plus we weren’t expecting! There was a slight maintenance issue, but after a quick call Brian showed up and fixed everything up so fast. He was so nice! Very personable and was so great to chat with while he worked. I spoke with several ladies at the office (forgive me I can’t remember their names) but they were so great and I loved being here. Everything was clean and as described in the website. I did NOT bring my fur babies with me, but you’d never know pets were allowed(no smell or hair). The neighborhood was really nice. And quiet hours were honored by the whole street which was so nice. Would definitely recommend if you’re bringing The whole family!!!!-via VRBO

The house was clean and we had excellent communication before check in and during our stay. It was an exceptionally warm weekend and the river access and dock were perfect! The water was low flow and many people were kayaking on the river already. Everyone went swimming and then hung out at the deck and later on the porch and bbq. Plenty of parking which was nice, and lots of room for my whole family. Overall a great time and a lovely location.

Great house for a family vacation right on the river. No kayaks were provided but we rented a few at the local sporting goods store. Everyone had a great time and didn't want to leave. The kitchen has all you need to fix some great meals and we especially enjoyed having two BBQ's since we love to barbecue. We take a trip to Joe Matos Cheese factory every year and pair it with the great wines from this area. If you don't want to cook there are several great restaurants to enjoy.

Perfect home for a family if you want to relax on the R. River. Good layout with one bedroom down two up, gives you options. Nice having your own dock, with ( lots of) steps down to it! No kayaks or canoes, but there were a few floaties, and we brought our own. Decent kitchen with all the necessities, though the gas range really needs service or updating. As does the furniture in the house, which is getting a little old and tired. However, definitely still comfortable and ok. Nice gas immediate-on fireplace for those chilly mornings, even mid July! Great deck, safely fenced. Walking to Guerneville is short, though unfortunately not too fun since you have to walk on 116. Hopefully too when you read this the rental agency will have fixed the upstairs electric sockets, which would not hold our IPad or IPhone chargers. They Just kept falling out. Weird. Downstairs were fine though, so no real problem. Overall a really good and comfortable house for a family visit; it's our second time and we'll go again!

Communication with Russian River Homes was very easy and always responded in a timely manner. Check in and checkout was easy. Instructions were very straight forward. Amenities are accurate and couldn't of asked for any more. There is plenty of cool ware for your cooking needs. Bring your own charcoal as there is a Weber charcoal grill and a Weber propane grill. Internet was great and made easy for distance learning. House was very clean when we walked in and well lit. The house is about 2 miles from downtown Guernville, where we picked up some biscuits at, Big Bottom Market apparently,”Oprah” is a big fan of these biscuits. Was also able to pick up a few bottles of, “Pliny the Elder” for you beer enthusiasts. Overall our stay was very comfortable and relaxing. Would definitely comeback and stay at the,”Irish Mist.”--via AirBnB

The Irish Mist is the perfect Russian River rental, with all of the amenities you could ask for. The location is great- about a mile out of Guerneville, which means a more peaceful stretch of the river. This also means that town is close by! The main living room is spacious and comfortable. We spent most of our time on the dock, but also on the deck overlooking the river. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking tools, utensils, and basics like coffee filters, spices, etc. There is also a large dining room. The bedrooms were comfortable, and it was nice that the pull out was in the upstairs living room, providing a little more privacy in the morning. Check in and check out was easy, as was communication leading up to our stay. I can't wait to return!

It was everything we were looking for! Beautiful fireplace and great room that was fantastic for sitting and watching Netflix while chatting. Nice, big dining table that accommodated all of us perfectly. Big deck with gates. River was too high and fast for floating, but it gets sun on the deck and was nice for drinking coffee. A bit hard to find later at night, but it worked out. Bring extra blankets because it gets cold and we couldn't find too many extras! Comfy beds, Lots of extra pillows, though, and a great selection of magazines and games. Wifi was good. Close to town and activities in the Russian River area. Cons: - no sponge or scrubby for handwashing dishes - had to use paper towel for scrubbing. - ants (only on first floor?); but it's in the woods, so this is to be expected. - ATandT cell service was spotty, so if you *need* to use phone, make sure it's Verizon or Sprint. Just completing our stay in this very comfortable and roomy home on the river. Lovely, wood living room with gas fireplace leads into a well equipped kitchen and dining area. Plenty of cooking utensils, dishes, pots and pans. We had no needs for the preparing of our Thanksgiving Meal! Great wrap around deck was dog secure, a real convenience since we had significant rain during our stay and the road infront of the property flooded making walking our pet a bit challenging! Plenty of sleeping space with upstairs and downstairs bedrooms well separated giving everyone some privacy as well. The upstairs sitting area has a lovely view of the river. If you like to dine out, Guerneville's main street is virtually one restaurant after another, something I would let the Chamber of Commerce know is not a great recipe for economic success! There was a couple of Recycled Clothing Stores, a stain glass showroom and a great 5-10 Cent store with a bit of everything for sale. I would honestly say Irish Mist is a lovely, comfortable home to stay in with excellent river access. Warm and roomy house that is extremely well equipped for a family stay! I especially appreciated the safe and fully enclosed deck for our young grandchildren and our dog! We prepared our Thanksgiving meal at the house and found everything we needed for roasting, baking, and stove top preparation! Great sitting areas both upstairs and down; a gas fireplace downstairs and a tremendous view of the river upstairs! Just a very comfortable house.

What a great home! Very comfortable space and love the view from loft. House well stocked with everything you need. Extra touch are gates at the top of the deck stairs so children or fur babies can't wander off. I do wish the house included some water toys but rented a couple of kayaks for the week. Kings will bring them to Johnson beach and it's an easy ride to house from there. If you are going to rent, bring rope for tie downs to dock. Lastly, love the location! You are minutes from Guerneville yet on your own private street. 20 minutes from beach, wine tasting, and several cute towns. And of course Armstrong Redwoods right up the road. Loved our stay here! Plenty of room for six people and two dogs. The big decks and outdoor tables with river views were perfect for our crew, and we loved the sunny dock. Saw some great wildlife, including a seal who swam back and forth for a bit. Great to be close to town and Armstrong Redwoods SNR.

We stayed for three nights and had a very enjoyable time. The home is spacious and clean, and everything worked well. The view is very tranquil and the dock is great for swimming, as is the nearby public beach. The large gated outdoor deck worked well for our dog, and there are nice views from the upstairs family room.

Girl's weekend for six

We stayed 3 nights and we enjoyed the entire visit. Fireplace, kitchen appliances and heating system worked well, which we have found not always to be the case in Russian River area rentals. House instructions were easy to follow. Beds were comfortable with ample choices for pillows and extra towels. Even in January, the deck and view of the river were awesome. We found that a portion of our electrical outlets and lights did not work when we arrived and in spite of excellent instructions to deal with circuit breakers, we could not get them to work. We called the number in our rental materials and they sent someone who fixed it within 30 minutes. He also came out the next day to replace a bulb outside that he noticed was out.We would gladly stay again and would recommend Irish Mist without reservation.
