Description

You will love Hank's Hideaway! Open the front door and you'll feel at home. The galley kitchen opens to the dining and living room so no one is left out of the conversation. Take meals outside to one of two large decks and sit among the trees with the BBQ and hot tub. Follow the deck around the house and relax poolside - or hop in!

This quiet, residential neighborhood is just above downtown Guerneville and makes for easy walking to restaurants, shops, Johnson's Beach (though you may want a cab for the ride back up the hill) and short drives to wineries and all of Sonoma Counties offerings. Some of the charms of living on a hill, surrounded by mature trees are the sense of privacy and looking straight up to the stars at night. At Hank's Hideaway, you have both.

Know Before You Book:

Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at Hank’s Hideaway is 6 people not including kids under 3 years old. Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm until 7:00 am. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at all times.

A Note About Our Cleaning Fees: Thank you for supporting our local business! When you stay with us, you are supporting local families at work. We think everyone deserves a decent living wage, and we make sure to set the rates and fees so that our cleaners earn a living wage in beautiful Sonoma County.

Parking: There is parking for a maximum of 1 to 2 (smaller) vehicles in the driveway and one in the garage. RVs, trailers, and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.

Bed Sizes: Queen bed; Second bedroom: Queen bed; Third bedroom: Queen bed. Years ago, Hank’s had a sleeper sofa in the living room – this is no longer available.

Cooling: Mini-split heating and A/C units are located in the living room and all three bedrooms. Plus there are ceiling fans in the bedrooms.

Kitchen: The kitchen has a dishwasher and garbage disposal.

Bathrooms: The upstairs bathroom (through the primary bedroom) has a shower over tub combo. The downstairs bathroom has a shower only.

Location: Hank's Hideaway is in a cozy residential neighborhood. It is a mix of permanent residents and vacation rentals, families, working folks, and visitors. To honor this balance, we ask guests to park only in the designated parking spots and respect the quiet hours in addition to general family-friendly, residential neighborhood expectations. Sound carries so we ask guests to be aware of noise – especially once quiet time starts at 10 pm. Thank you for helping to continue the tradition of a mutually beneficial relationship between vacation rentals and local community!

Road to Hank's Hideaway: The house is located up a narrow one-lane road. It is a two-way, one-lane curvy hillside road - fully paved and no special vehicle is required. We provide detailed written driving directions to confirmed guests.

Stairs: Outside there are no steps to the front door, but there are 9 steps to the pool deck and 9 steps between the pool deck and the rear deck. Inside, there is 1 flight of stairs, with a landing at the halfway point, between the main level and the upper level with the bedrooms.

Pet Friendly: This home welcomes up to 2 well-mannered dogs. If you have more than 2 dogs or other types of pets, please contact us to see if exceptions can be made before reserving.

Fencing: The yard/decks are mostly fenced, but we always recommend checking the fence line before letting your dog off-leash. There is an optional fence guests may use across the stairs to the pool deck.

This is a gem of a cottage! Where it is situated, it feels like a treehouse in the woods. Although you have neighbours, none are visible so the privacy is perfect. The decor is great. So comfortable. The kitchen is really well stocked. It can warm up a bit, but the fans and windows at night really help keep it cool on hot summer days. So does the pool! My kids enjoyed a week of being fish and I truly enjoyed just hanging out on the deck watching them have the time of their lives. The pool could use a little maintenance, but I understand that's being taken care of. Still such a great feature of the home - the hot tub, too! There's lots to do nearby if you want to: kayaking, fishing, hiking, wine tasting, etc. There's also enough at the house to keep you entertained in pandemic times. We didn't use the fire because it was too hot during our stay but I bet it's fantastic in cooler seasons. We grabbed dinner from town every night and it was great to support the local businesses. Some really good eats to enjoy! We would be happy to return. Thanks for a great holiday.

Hank's Hideaway is an incredible place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city! Following the instructions given, getting to the house was easy and the location is within walking distance of downtown Guerneville while still feeling secluded in the surrounding forest. The place was clean yet cozy and it felt like a home away from home. We appreciated the many little touches that were included, such as the wood for the indoor fireplace, the extra towels, the soaps, and the multitude of spices and ingredients for cooking. We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub, grilling outside, and working out on the deck. There's so much to do both at the home, like movie and game nights, and in the surrounding area (though we limited our outings due to COVID). We would definitely recommend this stay in any season and would happily stay here again!

Hank's Hideaway was absolutely incredible - everything you'd expect and WAY more! The location is perfection, totally secluded and very private. The best part is easily the hot tub, we were able to fit our entire party comfortably and the tub stayed very hot the entire time. The pool was incredibly refreshing during the day and the deck gets a lot of sun from 11am - 2pm. Super close to downtown Guerneville and 10 minutes away from Russian River. Amenities included were great and the beds were very comfortable. Everything about this place is perfect, I would 100% book again! Highly recommend for a group getaway.--via AirBnB

Honestly, this place was even better than we expected! Plenty of room for our group of 6. Well decorated, surrounded by gorgeous trees, and lots of cute touches (like some super cozy blankets!!). The hot tub was a huge hit! And the cabin is just a short (and charming) walk to downtown. It was perfect retreat.via AirBnB

A small gathering of friends paired with a nifty, eclectic home within a 10 minute walk of Guerneville made for a nice birthday weekend for us. Rooms were clean, kitchen was functional, hot tub was warm, and all the animals (humans included) were satisfied. The hill provided an unexpected workout for the return visit from town but it's a small price to pay for the peace and privacy that makes the home a hideaway. Would definitely return during the summer months for a river float and to see progressive, radical, and friendly Guerneville at its tourist peak. Otherwise, the January visit made for a good introduction to the area's quiet charms.-Airbnb Guest-

We LOVED this place! We've been coming up to the river for years and this trip was our best yet thank to this magical home. Plenty big to accommodate a larger group but cozy enough to feel homey. The large deck and pool area were spectacular for late afternoon relaxation. The kitchen was very well appointed; the owners really thought of everything. Love this location near to Armstrong Woods, downtown and river access.

This place was amazing! Great size for 5 people (and one 4 legged friend), awesome location and beautiful scenery. We were so close to downtown and explored multiple beautiful wineries just a few miles away. The kitchen was great and big enough for all 5 of us to be moving around one another and stocked nicely (we even loved one of the pans so much we researched where to buy it!) The family room was comfortable for all of us to sit around and play games together. The outside area is huge and so nice to have a fenced yard for the dog. We bundled up and sat outside in the morning with our coffee. Plenty of linens, the beds are comfortable, the views from each room are amazing making it hard to want to get out of bed in the morning. So nice to have a garage to park in and plenty of space in the driveway for two other cars. We could not hear a single neighbor which made this location even more lovely. We used the spaced heater downstairs and that provided plenty of heat along with the heater. We will definitely be booking this place again in hopes to snag some time in the pool for the summer!Source: Airbnb
