Description

Glen Tara is Cazadero at its best! This out-of-the-way private creekfront vacation home features redwood paneling, open beam ceilings and a dining area with views of Austin Creek. Enjoy the sunny outdoor deck, complete with a gas barbecue and seating for outdoor dining, perfect for an alfresco dining experience. Set aside some time to relax in the spa, or take in the fresh country air while you explore Austin Creek or curl up with a good book while enjoying the sound of the creek's gurgling waters.

Glen Tara's large living room, modern kitchen, bright dining room, 3 bedrooms and 1 of the full bathrooms are all located on the upper level (the main living level). All 3 bedrooms feature Queen beds. From 2 newly remodeled bedrooms, there are lovely windows to the creek and hills. A skylight illuminates the third bedroom with natural light. The main bathroom has a tub/shower combo and is conveniently located between both main bedrooms. The second bathroom (with a shower) is the only room located on the lower basement level (mostly used for storage). There are interior spiral stairs leading to the lower level bath.

Outdoors at Glen Tara is wild and great for wandering year-round Austin Creek. Experience nature under the giant redwoods with your children or splash in the creek or swim in the swimming holes nearby. Walk down the lane to renown Raymond's Bakery for fresh baked bread or pizza. The Cazadero Performing Arts Camp is also within walking distance. Glen Tara is approximately a 15 minute drive to the Russian River Resort Area

Know Before You Book:

Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at Glen Tara is 4. Quiet hours are from 9:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at any time.

Parking: On-site parking is permitted for a maximum of 3 vehicles. RVs, trailers and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.

Bed Sizes: First bedroom: Queen bed; Second bedroom: Queen bed; Third bedroom: Queen bed

Heat Source: Central heat. NOTE: Stone fireplace is for decoration only. Plans for future upgrades include a propane fireplace insert.

A/C: The house does not have air conditioning. Being near the coast, the night time temps drop and just opening some windows is usually enough to cool the house.

Location: Private, creekfront. Approximately 5 miles from the Russian River. Cazadero has public basketball and tennis courts.

Remote and quiet

We loved our stay here. It was remote and quiet. The pictures don’t really do it justice. Pros: kitchen and dining area were great! Living was comfortable, but in our opinion needed more lighting; it felt a bit dark. Cons: one of the three beds was very uncomfortable, and not usable because of that. We did find a few ants in the kitchen & a wasp or hornet in one of the bedrooms. Overall a pleasant stay! -via Airbnb

Surrounding redwoods and shade

Really appreciated the quietness of the location. House located at end of the road and we saw no cars drive up the road to the house. Felt like we had the neighborhood to ourselves. Appreciated the river as did our pups. And the surrounding redwoods and shade. Kitchen well equipped, nice deck to sit outside on, hot tub was nice too. We had a nice stay. Only challenge was finding a decent place to walk our dogs- and we would inevitably have to drive some place plus 20 min away to find a dog friendly location where we could walk them on leash only.-via Airbnb

setting by the creek

Very nice place in a beautiful setting. Worked very well for our family and dog. The setting by the creek is lovely and the deck is very nice. Things to note: One of the bathrooms is in the basement and is not accessible to anyone with mobility limitations. One of the bedrooms is a little dark. The last stretch of road (about a third of a mile) is very narrow. We managed with a mini-van, and as a result, the location is super quiet and good for kids and dogs.-via Airbnb

An attractive and well furnished 3 bedroom property. WIFi and cable television functioned well. Note that while check out time is 12, the passcode expired an hour earlier at 11. Access lane from Cazadero Hwy the .8 miles is a single lane in places with a blind steep up and over that took getting used to. Would stay here again.-via Vrbo

Pros: Great location, easy check in and communication with the company. Easy process. Close to the areas we wanted to visit, and convenient to SF. Cons: This home is pretty dirty. From the stains on the upholstery, to the peeling plaster and drywall in the kitchen, to the cobwebs on the ceilings and above the doors, it wasn’t a clean place. The photos shown in Airbnb do not match the actual rooms. Beds have been moved, arrangements in the living room were v different (and awkward). There’s a “private” creekfront area, which is nice—but it’s not private. While we were staying, a lady came with 2 dogs and played around in the yard and stream for an hour or so. She clearly knew the area and didn’t just stumble upon it, but it’s not a private feeling when all of a sudden there is a stranger in your space. I’ve stayed at other properties managed by the same company and not had this experience. But this place wasn’t one to which we will return.-via Airbnb

Glen Tara was amazing! We decided to go away last minute and booked this home having never heard of Cazadero. It was perfect. We played in the creek, enjoyed wonderful meals and the river in Guerneville, and even walked to the bakery for pizza and live music on Friday night. Our stay at Glen Tara was great! House was well appointed and clean, the location was great, nestled in the redwoods right along the Austin Creek. No AC as expected in most of Northern California, but there were plenty of fans kept the temperature comfortable until the nightly cool-off. Easy access to Guerneville, Duncans Mills, Jenner. Mother's Day Weekend

Nice little cottage in a beautiful location. We stayed for Mother's Day weekend and the other homes around us were empty, so it all felt very private. The river is just across the driveway and our dog enjoyed playing there during the hot afternoons. The kitchen was well appointed (a nice plus for cooking in rather than driving all the way back to town for restaurant options). Finally, we enjoyed a nice day trip to some of the Dry Creek Valley wineries which were less than an hours drive.-via Airbnb

Paradise Getaway

This was the perfect place to have a getaway! My husband, daughter, dog and I loved every minute of it. We even stayed an additional night we were having such a relaxing getaway. Internet is speedy, property is private and creek access is amazing. From inside to out, it was wonderful. Staff was amazing start to finish too. Our family of 4 along with our dog, really enjoyed our time at Glen Tara. The kids were thrilled to hang out in the hot tub in the rain. The kitchen was well appointed with everything needed. We really appreciated the owners having a basket of dog friendly towels and balls. Since it rained several days, the extra towels came in very handy. Everyone had comfy beds, the living room was a cozy hang out to watch a movie. Megan at Russian River Rentals was great to work with. Beware of ticks. Our daughter had one after a hike in the area and every time our dog went out we would find others. The WiFi is pretty useless too, but it was actually a bonus for us to connect with the kids and we did t really need it this time, so it worked out well! We would definitely stay here again!

Excellent Rental with Kids

What an awesome place to get away from the bustle of city, school and work! We drove up early Friday, to be ahead of the traffic and had an amazing view. Had two adults and three kids, so we were concerned about space, but the rooms are all quite large and modern for a cabin! This is tucked away into a quiet slice of heaven. Cool nights were perfect for the hot tub. The kitchen is new, well stocked and the kids had fun baking and decorating cookies! There were tons of board games, books and running the creek was it's own activity. I will definitely return, maybe for a grown up girls getaway next time. Thanks we needed this spot and so reasonable for a weekend getaway. We loved it!

Lovely home by the relaxing Austin Creek. Lots of space for small or large families. The home is right off a main road so you can hear and see the cars pass above the creek but doesn't take too much away from being in a beautiful area with fresh air, lots of birds (and other little creatures fun to watch). The Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve is a short drive away and a great way to spend the day close by. Glen Tara was a pleasant continuation to a peaceful day at Armstrong.-Airbnb Guest-

Nice Creekside Home

The house and furnishings are nice and kitchen well stocked, but the whole living room area is on a slant and it felt like we were at the Mystery Spot:) Loved the quality sheets and warm blankets as it was chilly at night (we wished we could have used the fireplace). Always happy when I can bring my dog along too! The creek was still running in September and we enjoyed hearing it in between cars, which unfortunately isn;t often - the road noise in Cazadero seems inescapable and just part of the package.

Glen Tara is a wonderful house. it was very clean, comfortable and everything you need was provided. The location is gorgeous and the deck is perfect to enjoy dinner or a glass if wine. Austin creek is right there and we had a freat time sitting diwn by the water as well. (lawn chairs are in the shed) The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook meals and the bed were comfortable as well. We highly recommend Glen Tara. Our family had a fabulous vacation staying at Glen Tara. It was quiet, secluded, clean, and had many amenities. We loved the creek, the spa, and eating on the deck. It was handy to have the washer and dryer as well as the kayak and beach towels, and chairs. We loved driving just a few short minutes to Gold Coast Bakery in Duncans Mills, the Friday night pizza and music at Raymond's, and St. Colman's outdoor church. Goat Rock Beach only 15 minutes away was also a favorite! We had a very memorable trip!

Our Favorite Place to Vacation!

This is our favorite place to vacation. The house and scenery are amazing! From wonderful bbq dinners on the patio, reading by the Austin Creek, to star gazing in the hot tub! We floated down the Russian River and surfed in the ocean. Both times we were joined by curious seals! Saw a Bald Eagle in it's nest, beautiful Blue Heron, and loads of other amazing wild life. Plus the River Homes staff provide exceptional customer service. We plan to continue visiting Glen Tara home for many years to come! -Glad to Have You Guestbook

We stayed in the early spring and the place is just plain amazing. The house is located in Redwoods and there is a creek flowing right in front of the house. What more do you expect? You can just sit right there and watch the water flows by. The house is filled with all the stuff you need. There is also a spa which we really enjoyed during the nights. I wish i could spend more time there!

Lovely get away. The home is tucked in the trees, right next to a peaceful creek. It's like camping but with all the amenities of home. A well-stocked kitchen was perfect for making family meals, followed by hang out time in the cozy living room. We appreciated that the home is dog friendly and would definitely stay in the home again...hopefully soon!

We stayed at Glen Tara over Thanksgiving with 4 adults, 2 young children, and our dog. The house was perfectly suited to us. The living room is very nice and comfortable and the kitchen/dining room are spacious and well-stocked. We used the grill to cook the turkey and it worked great! The second bathroom is in the basement down a narrow, spiral staircase so keep that in mind when booking. The house is nestled in a very quiet area with redwoods all around and creek that our boys loved throwing rocks in. Our dog also loved running around! The only thing that we really wished the house had was a working fireplace. The staff at Russian River Vacation was very responsive, kind, and helpful - we got some great winery recommendations that were kid-friendly.
