Dog-Friendly Beaches:
Shell Beach on Sonoma Coast: On Hwy 1, south of Hwy 116 a few minutes.
While dogs are not allowed on the trails leading away from this location, they are allowed on the beach! Bathrooms, water fountains and parking are at the entrance and you hike down the stairs to the beach.
Guernewood Park Neighborhood Beach:
On Highway 116, just west of downtown Guerneville, park in front of the fence and walk to the river. Nice beach when the dams are out and the river is low. Narrow beach when the dams are in or the river is high.

Dog Friendly Trails:
Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve:
Dogs are allowed on paved roads and in developed picnic areas or Bullfrog Pond campsite. Dogs are NOT allowed on any dirt trail or dirt road. A nice cool walk with your dog in Armstrong Redwoods is on the paved trail from the Visitor’s Center along the Pioneer or Discovery Trails in the shaded understory or walk the road to Bullfrog Pond in the sunshine. Great maps available for 50 cents at the Visitor’s Center.
Pinnacle Gulch to Shorttail Gulch: Just south of Bodega Bay at 20600 Mockingbird Drive, Bodega Bay: Day use fee.
A steep, in spots, hike down to a secluded beach on the Sonoma Coast. See link for more info.
Riverfront Regional Park: 7821 Eastside Road in Healdsburg, closer to Windsor
This park is a great stop with your dog during a day of wine tasting – bring a picnic! Day use fee.
