Description

Old Caz Cottage is located in a sunny patch in the redwood forest on Hulbert Creek, amidst a fairy ring of 200-ft coastal redwoods. Old Caz Cottage was built in 1957 with a mid-century design unique among the redwoods. The interior has a modern - yet relaxing vibe with a spacious open floor plan.

This one level house has a fully equipped kitchen and a dining area that comfortably seats six. The chic living room offers a large flat screen smart TV (AppleTV, Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBOGo etc. - no cable), wifi and bluetooth speakers for streaming music, and wood burning fireplace that provides the perfect place to relax with a glass of wine. Two bedrooms and a full bathroom are located off the kitchen hallway. Each bedroom is unique and fresh with comfortable Casper Queen beds and art work by Bay Area artists. One bedroom has a flat screen TV (AppleTV, Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBOGo etc. - no cable). A full bathroom is located at the end of short hall and has a tub/shower combo. Outside, a spacious patio overlooks Hulbert Creek (seasonal). To complete the outdoor experience, enjoy dining for six, a gas grill and a five person hot tub to soak under the sequoias and stars.

Whether you choose to visit our favorite spots in Guerneville, walk to the sandy beach on the Russian River (20 minute walk), go wine tasting, hiking in Armstrong Redwoods or take in the spectacular coastal views in Jenner (20 minute drive) there's something for everyone at Old Caz Cottage.

Know Before You Book:

Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at is 6. Quiet hours are from 9:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at any time.

Parking: There is parking for two cars immediately in front of the house and one car behind the side gate. RVs, trailers and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance

Bed Sizes: First Bedroom: Queen Bed; Second Bedroom: Queen Bed; Living Room: sofa bed with full size pull out that comfortably sleeps two.

Heat Source: Electric wall heaters and wood-burning fireplace in the living room (no firewood or kindling provided).

A/C: The house does not have air conditioning. Being near the coast, the night time temps drop and just opening some windows is usually enough to cool the house.

Location: Old Caz Cottage is located in a residential neighborhood, along a creek.

Stairs: There is one small step at the front door and two steps from the living room to the back patio.

TVs: Living room TV is an Apple TV, with many streaming and on-demand options.

Dishwasher: The home does not have a dishwasher.

Proximity to Wineries: 15 minutes to Korbel Vineyards and an additional 5 minutes to Westside Road.

Nearest River Beach: A few minutes by car or 1 mile by foot to Guernewood Park Neighborhood Beach.

Nearest Ocean Beach: 25 minutes (less than 15 miles) by car to Jenner.

This AirBNB is managed really well. Two binders full of things to do, maps, and information about the area. House was stocked well and very clean. About 6 minutes from town and if you want, it could be walked as well. Overall loved hanging out in the backyard looking out at the redwoods. Price was competitive as well. -via Airbnb

the Airbnb is in a beautiful area. there is enough space for four adults to hang out comfortably. Conveniently close to the grocery store. It was nice to cook in the kitchen. The fireplace wasn't ventilating well so we had to open all the doors to air out the smoke for two of the three nights we tried using it. Seems like it's been an issue for a few weeks. The Airbnb sends A LOT of information for us to read through and there are a lot of rules and things to do before checking out so it made the experience more tense than it needed to be.-via Airbnb

Overall this was a good stay, all the basics are covered — it was clean and very well-stocked, the hot tub was great, and the yard space was nice. A few downsides: the fireplace didn’t vent well so we’d have to open all the windows to clear the air, wasn’t worth the effort. The bedrooms are quite small and the beds weren’t very comfortable, nothing terrible but not great. As another review noted, the shower is pretty ridiculous and leaves half the bathroom floor soaking every time. It’s also less private than expected, as the yard is open to the road behind the house. None of these are dealbreakers, just more of a functional stay. It’s a quick drive into town and served its purpose for a short getaway. -via Airbnb

We had a wonderful stay at Old Caz Cottage and River Homes did a great job of making things clear, welcoming, and easy. I had booked the stay to work remotely in the woods and take advantage of Guerneville's community vibe, restaurants, and maximizing time in nature walking my dog in the woods and by the river. The house looked and felt exactly as photographed, and the backyard was peaceful and spacious. I ate my dinners under the stars beneath the redwoods and enjoyed that beautiful stillness working outside with my laptop surrounded by the lush, green landscape and chirping birds. The summer heat was very present the day after we arrived, and River Homes was mediately responsive to our request for a couple of fans for the house, which did the trick. I have lovely memories to take with me and would happily stay here again.-via Airbnb

Very pleasant cabin under the redwoods. Parking is right next to the house out front on a private road. Most days you can stroll or walk the dog and have the roads to yourself. The nearby homes all seem to be vacation stays, with respectful guests. We used the Airbnb app to communicate with management. A nice week getaway and it’s great that we could travel with our recently rescued buddy.-via Airbnb

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving @ Old Caz Cottage—thank you to River Homes for being so responsive when the tub backed up AND when I had to go back to the house to get my wedding band, which I didn't notice I'd left behind until we were in Santa Rosa—yikes! :) We really appreciated the great communication. We used the kitchen a lot and noticed that many of the dishes were dirty when we went to use them. We also would've loved to spend more time in the backyard, but it was chilly this time of year, so it would have been awesome to have a fire pit, heat lamp, and lighting (we understand offering these kinds of things in a rental may be a liability, so not sure it would be possible)... Again, we love the house, the location, the responsive communication, and how fully equipped the kitchen was—the dishes and yard amenities are just minor things. We were grateful this Thanksgiving to spend time @ Old Caz! :)-via Airbnb

Such a great place. Second stay here and it feel like a home away from home, except in the middle of beautiful redwoods. The home is quite and cozy and comfortable. Although it was warm in Guerneville, the tree coverage helped keep the house cool with the windows open. I love eating in the local restaurants, but check the hours if planning to eat out a lot. You may need to plan your meals around varying days they are closed or open for dinner only. Nothing a little planning can't manage.-Via Airbnb

We LOVED our stay at Old Caz cottage. It felt much larger than the photos and 4 of us fit very comfortably for the weekend. The 2 couches and beds were very comfortable. The kitchen and bath finishes are awesome. The back yard was perfect -- we really enjoyed sitting outside with morning coffee and a peaceful spot for talking away in the evenings. Looking forward to coming back.

Loved our stay and hated to leave so soon! The air quality was bad so we spent most of our time hanging out and reading on the comfy couch. Also got to hang out in the hot tub and enjoy the gorgeous view of the backyard trees and creek bed (would love to come back when the creek is running). The decor is fabulous and really adds to the experience. Will definitely come back!

Ourselves, our two-year-old son and our friends and their 19-month-old had a great Labor Day weekend in this home. The common area offered plenty of space for the boys to play and we had lovely communal meals in the dining room. The bedrooms were cozy but comfy and we all fit in nicely. It was quiet and well shaded which also provided for great afternoon naps and sleeping. Overall, just a very seamless stay. The hot tub was definitely an added bonus for all, as were the gorgeous redwoods all around.

Old Caz Cottage is a complete gem! The stunning canopy of Redwood trees over the backyard makes soaking in the hot tub, lounging at the table or chairs, or just sitting outside and reading so unbelievably pleasant and indulgent. Wow! What a great getaway in Guerneville. We all had an amazing time and were surprised with all the extra touches. Cooked a large meal Friday evening and were spoiled with the extra cooking utensils, pots, pans and serving dishes available to us. The home decor was gorgeous and the location couldn't have been better. Thank you for wonderful hospitality and an unforgettable weekend!

This is a great little cottage. Super modern style and very clean. River homes was GREAT to work with. Tons of info in the binder left in the cottage and check in was super easy. Beds were super comfortable and the place was very clean. There is a nice little creek running behind the property, but be aware that there is no fence on parts of it and the drop off is pretty steep.Source: Airbnb

Perfect weekend away in the “woods.” We have two small children and really enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and it's close proximity to the wineries and vineyards, as well as the parks. The back yard has a steep drop to the river, which is beautiful and peaceful, but not ideal for people with little ones. We appreciated the extra towels and especially the bottle of champagne waiting for us using arrival!Source: Airbnb

My husband and I were looking for a place to have a quiet weekend away from the city and Old Caz Cottage was everything we needed. The house is surrounded by trees and bordered by a creek, which made it incredibly relaxing and quiet. The place is clean, comfortable and designed well. Location is perfect and very easy to get to the downtown area - so many great restaurants nearby! Overall great experience and highly recommend this place for a weekend away.

We had a great weekend in Guernville and loved staying at Old Caz Cottage. The house was clean and well decorated so felt like a charming home away from home. The fireplace is amazing and the outside patio and hot tub are fantastic! It is close to town and the river so very well located. I can't wait to go back!

I spent a great weekend at Old Caz Cottage with a few girlfriends in Jan. From the warm welcome left for us by the owners to all of the thoughtful touches in the house, we felt immediately comfortable. The cottage is nestled in the redwoods and set along a lovely creek making it a wonderful escape from city life. In addition to its incredible natural beauty the house is also equipped with all the modern amenities including wi-fi, cable TV, bluetooth speakers and even usb chargers by the bedside - making us feel right at home. Whether we were enjoying coffee by the creek in the morning, keeping warm by the fire or in the hot tub in the evening or heading into nearby charming Guerneville, we enjoyed every minute. Just the most perfect weekend escape!
